Surrendering To Peace Of Mind
Just before the sun broke the horizon,
serenaded by echoing wild bird song,
with dew still heavy upon the tall grass,
I slipped the canoe into the lake.
Silence broken only by the rhythmic splash
of softly dancing paddle strokes
I pushed on in time with nature's concerto
As if nothing exists beyond this shore
Hidden away from life's pandemonium,
slowly surrendering to peace of mind,
I became aware of a blessed presence
descending to meet me upon still waters.
I drifted aimlessly for a time not wanting
to disturb the tranquility and joyous calm
while my soul sang out in silent chorus,
and your name floated across my heart.
